WeMakeDevs is a global developer community that hosts hackathons, technical events, workshops, livestreams, and developer-focused campaigns with companies building tools for developers.
We are looking for a creative Video Editor who can turn raw footage and ideas into polished videos for our global events, campaigns, and community channels.
Role overview
As a Video Editor at WeMakeDevs, you will edit long-form and short-form content including event promos, livestream highlights, speaker clips, tutorials, recaps, interviews, and social media videos. You will work with the content and design teams to keep every video clear, energetic, and consistent with our visual identity.
Responsibilities
- Edit YouTube videos, event promos, recaps, interviews, and tutorials
- Create short-form clips for Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, X/Twitter, and LinkedIn
- Select strong moments from livestreams and long recordings
- Add captions, music, transitions, graphics, and simple motion elements
- Improve pacing, audio clarity, colour, and overall presentation
- Adapt edits into platform-specific aspect ratios and durations
- Organize project files and maintain a reliable editing workflow
- Follow WeMakeDevs and partner brand guidelines
- Collaborate with the team on briefs, feedback, and publishing deadlines
- Make quick revisions while maintaining quality
Requirements
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a strong sense of pacing, storytelling, and visual rhythm
- Can produce clean, modern, professional edits
- Is comfortable editing both long-form and short-form content
- Has experience with Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, After Effects, or similar tools
- Understands audio cleanup, captions, aspect ratios, and export settings
- Can work with feedback and deliver revisions quickly
- Has a showreel or samples of previous video work
Good to have
- Experience editing tech, developer, startup, or event content
- Basic motion graphics and animation skills
- Experience creating YouTube thumbnails or coordinating with designers
- Familiarity with livestream workflows and multicamera footage
