Hackathon Terms & Conditions

Eligibility & Participation

  • Age Requirement: Participants must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Registration: Only individuals who complete the official registration form will be granted access to the hackathon platform.
  • Online Participation: The hackathon is fully online. All team activities, including collaboration, workshops, mentoring, and project submissions, must take place via the designated platforms.
  • Team Composition: Teams may have 1-4 members. All members must be officially registered. Collaboration outside the platform is allowed only for coordination among registered teammates.

Project Rules

Use of Sponsor Technology
  • To qualify for cash prizes or interview opportunities, teams must use at least one sponsor technology.
  • Cerebras: The award will recognize the best use of the Cerebras API.
  • Meta: The award will recognize the best use of Llama, Meta's open-source LLM for generative AI applications.
  • Docker: The award will recognize the most creative usage of the Docker MCP Gateway.
  • Projects not using a sponsor technology are ineligible for sponsor prizes.
  • Refer to the Resources section for guides and documentation to get started with sponsor tools.
Creation Guidelines
  • All work (code, design, hardware) must be created during the hackathon.
  • Open-source libraries, APIs, Creative Commons media, and other publicly available resources may be used.
  • Pre-event planning, sketches, and documentation are allowed.
  • Use of AI tools is permitted.
  • Projects must include significant software development. Hardware components are optional.

Intellectual Property

  • WeMakeDevs does not claim ownership of hackathon ideas or projects.
  • The hackathon is primarily an experiential learning event; most ideas will be in early stages.
  • If a project is based on a pre-existing or more developed idea, ownership rests with the originator and/or team members who significantly contribute. Teams are expected to agree on ownership internally.

Code of Conduct

  • Treat all participants, mentors, and organizers with respect.
  • Harassment, discrimination, or abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Collaboration is encouraged, but plagiarism or misrepresentation of work will lead to disqualification.
  • Follow the rules of the hackathon platforms and respect community guidelines.

Submission Guidelines

  • Each project must include:
    • A GitHub repository with visible commit history.
    • A README file clearly explaining the project.
    • A 2-minute demo video (mandatory).
    • Deployment is optional but earns extra credit.
